As we’re getting closer to the iPhone 8 release date, contradicting rumors say that the launch will be delayed. The iPhone 8 is being launched 10 years after the first iPhone was released. There for a lot of people are expecting the new iPhone to come with some major changes. These major changes also pose some manufacturing challenges for Apple. Therefore, after the iPhone is revealed it will be available in limited quantities only. The iPhone 8 release date is expected to be in September 2017 sometime between 17^th September 25^th September. However, some rumors say that the iPhone 8 will not be available before, October or even November 2017.

Rumored specifications of the iPhone 8

Display and home button.

The most prominent rumors surrounding the iPhone 8 release is the edge to edge organic light emitting diode (OLED) display. The iPhone 8 will have minimum bezels and simply no physical home screen button. This will make the iPhone 8 the smartphone with the highest screen to body size ratio. Instead of a physical home button or soft button will be provided on the display. The virtual home button will have haptic keypad there by giving an illusion of a physical keypad. The iPhone 8 is expected to have of 5.8-inch display along with rounded corners and curved edges.

Touch ID.

As far as biometric authentication is considered the touch ID will be moved either to the rear of the phone or will be integrated in the new display.  However, it is unlikely that the latter will happen since this will make the cost very high.

Charging and battery life.

The iPhone 8 will also have significantly improved battery life. This is because of the new screen as well as the battery technology. It is said that the iPhone 8 will use an L shaped battery or 2 battery packs instead of one. This will make better use of the space inside the phone contain the battery. The battery is expected to have wireless charging. There are also rumors that Apple will now use the USB C port allowing faster charging.

Camera setup.

Leaked renders also show the iPhone 8 to have vertical dual cameras. The new camera setup will also allow the iPhone 8 to support Apple’s AR kit. The camera is expected to be a 3D sensing camera. The iPhone 8 is also expected to come with iris scanner and a scanner.

Availability and Pricing

The iPhone 8 is expected to be the most expensive iPhone ever released by Apple. The price tag would be something around $1000 to 1200 dollars. Device will be powered by Apple’s A11 SoC and the base model will have at least 128 GB of mass storage. Generally, mass availability of the iPhone is made around Christmas. This should also be true for the iPhone 8. However, prior to that it will be available only in limited quantities in a few countries. 

Global availability can be expected in the first quarter of 2018. Pricing is expected to differ outside the US.
